Let's show you how to design a nursery that grows with baby!
We hate to break this to you, but babies really do grow up pretty fast. Before you know it, you'll be wondering if it's time to transition the baby to a toddler bed and trying to figure out all things toddler related.
If you are expecting and about to start designing and planning your baby's nursery, it makes sense to design a nursery that grows with baby and lasts through toddler years. Nurseries are a big investment, so the key is to create a nursery that has longevity.
If you designing a versatile space now, you'll end up saving money, since you don't have to start designing a toddler's room from the ground up in a few years time.
So here, we'll share what you can do now to make sure that the baby's room you are decorating can easily become a toddler's room in the future.

1. CONSIDER FUTURE PLANS
Before you embark on the nursery design project, take a pause to consider what you want out of this space in the next few years. Are you planning on converting the space into a toddlers room in the future or do you see this nursery passing on to a future sibling, maybe?
2. INVEST IN A CONVERTIBLE CRIB
A convertible crib makes the most sense for a nursery that grows with baby. Once baby is ready to transition to a toddler bed, you can convert the crib easily into a toddler bed. There are many kinds of convertible cribs and some of them convert to just a toddler bed but there are others that can even convert into a toddler bed, daybed and eventually a child's bed.
3. opt FOR A NURSERY DRESSER
A well designed nursery certainly needs a well organized diapering station. Instead of a changing table, invest in a nursery dresser that can grow with baby. You'll appreciate all the extra space for organizing baby clothes and more.
4. UPGRADE THE NURSERY CLOSET
If the baby's nursery has a builder grade closet, consider investing in upgrading the closet now. Bring in extra shelves and rods to transform the nursery closet into a space that grows with baby. Check out this post where we share some stunning nursery closet transformations.
5. INCORPORATE TOY STORAGE SOLUTIONS
You'll be surprised by the amount of toys your little one will eventually have. When designing the nursery, bring in nursery storage solutions so you are able organize everything and prevent the nursery from getting cluttered. We love adding baskets, storage units and toy storage bins, to keep the nursery organized.
6. CREATE A READING NOOK
Soon you'll find your little one flipping through books and discovering the wonder in them. So when designing the baby's room, create a reading nook where they can get comfortable and read books.
7. GET A CONVERTIBLE NURSERY CHAIR
A nursery chair is an important piece of furniture in the nursery. You'll spend countless hours on this chair feeding the baby, reading books and just cuddling the little one. When designing a nursery that can grow with baby, consider investing in a convertible nursery chair. It converts into a regular chair (and back again) and can be used as a reading chair in the future.
8.CHOOSE A TIMELESS DESIGN
If you want the nursery to eventually transition into a toddlers room, the key is to decorate a nursery that endures the test of time. Choose nursery paint colors, wallpaper and finishes that are neutral and aren't centered around a particular trend. Use decorative accessories and wall décor to easily change the vibe of the nursery without having to spend a lot of money.
9. UPGRADING THE LIGHTING
To create a nursery that's versatile and timeless, update the outdated light fixtures and brighten up the space.
10. SWAP THE CURTAINS
Nursery window treatments are an important element and will elevate your design, if done properly. Upgrade the curtains so they hang nice and are well fitted.
