We are sharing our favorite tips for nursery lighting and how to use nursery light fixtures to make a big impact on the nursery design.
You are decorating a nursery for your little one and have spent time choosing the nursery colors, nursery themes and nursery furniture. Have you overlooked the nursery lighting options though?
You are not alone! So often, nursery lighting is an after thought.
Lighting can add so much personality and character to the baby's room. Lighting also has the ability to completely change the vibe of the nursery, affect your mood and how you perceive the size of the space.
In this post, we’re breaking down some of our favorite nursery lighting tips to help elevate your nursery design.
1. GO WITH SOFT AMBIENT LIGHTING
The nursery should be a place with a relaxing and calming vibe where baby is not over stimulated. Choose lighting options with shaded or diffused light that have a soft warm glow vs harsh lighting

2. ADD DIMMERS
Installing a dimmer switch is a no brainer! It allows you to adjust the light in the nursery to the baby's comfort level.
3. layer lighting
Layering the nursery lighting will help accentuate the features in the nursery while also helping with function. For example, the overhead nursery light fixture provides your first layer of lighting. Now, add task lighting by placing a lamp in the nursing nook or wall lights by the changing table to add another layer of lighting.

4. MIX NURSERY LIGHTING FIXTURES
As you layer nursery lighting, try to avoid using the same sort of light fixture. Mix the nursery light fixtures but achieve a cohesive look in the nursery design by getting fixtures that have something in common such as a finish, a style, a shape, or anything that pulls your different light selections together.

5.BALANCE THE LIGHTING
As with most things in design, you've got to balance the scale of the nursery light fixtures. For example, if you add a big statement overhead light fixture to the nursery, go with smaller task and accent light fixtures.

6. BRING IN A NIGHT LIGHT
Late night diaper changes and feeding sessions call for a night light in the nursery!
