HERE'S HOW TO BE ORGANIZED AT HOME WITH OUR SMART MOM HACKS
1.WAKE UP BEFORE EVERYONE
Be the first one in your family to wake up. Waking up before everyone else does, is the best way to start your day.
So what should you do when you wake up early and there's total silence? Enjoy your morning coffee and take some time to go after the personal goals you've set.
You could also use the time to plan out your day, make a to-do list and get prepared for the day ahead.
2. MAKE YOUR BEd every morning
Start your day off right by making the bed every morning. Even though it's a small task, it sets the tone for the rest of your day.
We love the following quote from Naval Admiral William McRaven, the commander of U.S. Special Operations.
“If you make your bed every morning you will have accomplished the first task of the day. It will give you a small sense of pride and it will encourage you to do another task and another and another," he said. "By the end of the day, that one task completed will have turned into many tasks completed. Making your bed will also reinforce the fact that little things in life matter.”
3.GET YOURSELF READY FIRST
As moms we spend a lot of time taking care of others while our own self care often takes a back seat. There are moms who skip their showers, meals and appointments because they just don't have the time to do it all!
No matter what, even if you have to wake up super early, always take a shower, and get your self ready before the baby wakes up crying or needs to be fed.
Mama, when you look good, it can actually make you feel good. It’s not always about vanity. It's about feeling prepared, confident, and ready to take on what the world has in store for you.
4.UNLOAD THE DISHWASHER WHILE YOU BREW THE COFFEE
The road to being organized at home starts with doing little things.
So start the coffee maker and while your coffee is brewing, unload the dishwasher. It certainly doesn't take much time and you'll be able to start your day with a fresh cup of coffee and a clean kitchen!
5.MAKE Google Calendar YOUR GO TO SCHEDULING APP
It's easy to get overwhelmed with doctors appointments, field trips, dance classes and so forth, if you don't have a way to keep track of all the activities, appointments and meetings.
While there are some excellent time-management and calendar apps around, one of the best options is a shared Google calendar. Use Google calendar to keep your family's schedule straight and share it with your husband and older kids so everyone is on the same page.
6.download a good note taking app
Whether inspiration strikes when you're at home or on the go, a note-taking app is essential to keep all your thoughts, reflections and memos in one place.
A note taking app is the replacement to a notebook, we used to take everywhere with us. It's one less thing you have to pack in your diaper bag or handbag, as you run out to the store.
There's so much you can do with a note taking app such as Ever-note from text search to clipping pages from the web and recording audio notes.
7. Schedule down time
Many moms keep putting off doing things they enjoy or even essential self care such as getting to the hairdresser for a coloring and haircut because of the time constraints.
Just like you schedule the kids dental appointments or pediatrician well visits, moms need to schedule time for self care and downtime. Then honor that appointment with yourself just like you would one at the doctor’s office.
Schedule it on the family calendar, so your husband knows he's needed to watch the kids or cancel his plans on the weekend so you can go to your appointment. Or if it's downtime at home, to read a book, do your nails or watch some Netflix, stick to your scheduled time as well.
