THINGS TO CONSIDER WHEN PACKING THE HOSPITAL BAG

  • When packing the hospital bag, keep in mind that if you are planning on a vaginal delivery, you'll probably stay in the hospital for one to two days. However, if you are planning on a C-section,  expect to wait for three to four days.
  • This hospital bag checklist is based on an average stay because we want you to be prepared for either situation. However, take your personal situation into consideration as you determine how many outfits you'll need.
  • Hospitals provide many supplies, such as postpartum mesh underwear, a perineal wash bottle, burp clothes, diapers, and wipes.
  • If you plan to breastfeed, consider taking your nursing pillow to help position the baby. However, you can certainly also use the pillows in the hospital.
  • We only listed one change of clothes for Dad, but again, this can change depending on how far your home is from the hospital and whether he'll be going back and forth.
