One of the most important things for new parents to do, is to be prepared for the unexpected. And when it comes to venturing out with the baby, we can't emphasis it enough.
Whether you are taking the baby to a routine pediatricians appointment, shopping or running a quick errand, always be prepared with a well stocked diaper bag.
So in this post we'll share exactly what you need to pack in the diaper bag to make sure you are able to handle any situation from poopy diapers to uncontrollable meltdowns.
Here is the go-to list of diaper bag essentials
1. DIAPERS
The amount of diapers to pack in the diaper bag depends on how long you'll be out. A good rule of thumb is to pack one diaper for every two hours you’re out—and maybe a few extra diapers to be on the safe side.
2.WIPES
Make sure to pack plenty of wipes in the diaper bag to use during your outing. Use one of these on the go dispensers to keep the diapers moist.
3.DIAPER CREAM
A diaper bag essential- diaper cream to treat and prevent diaper rash. Get a small tube for the diaper bag instead of the jar.
4.CHANGING PAD
Some diaper bags come with a changing pad, but we still think having a portable changing pad is the way to go with compartments for storage and a little pillow for baby's head.
5.WET AND DRY BAG
You will see baby's clothes get soiled or wet sometimes. Pack a wet bag so you have something to transport the soiled and wet clothes back home to launder.
6.PACIFIER
If your little one uses a pacifier, definitely pack one in the diaper bag! Get of these pacifier cases to store the pacifier without contamination.
7.BURP CLOTHES & nursing cover
A must have item in your diaper bag. Pack as many burp clothes as you want because they'll come in handy for sure. A nursing cover might be useful when breastfeeding in public.
8.CHANGE OF CLOTHES FOR BABY
You'll need to pack a couple of changes of clothes as well because you never know. The baby might have a blow out, a spit up or drool on the bodysuit.
9.BLANKET | HAT | SOCKS
It's always good to be prepared than not. So have these essentials in the diaper bag just in case you need it.
10.T-SHIRT & SNACKS FOR MOM
Baby's not the only one who might need an extra top. If you are a breastfeeding mom, be prepared just in case you have a leaky breast or get hungry. And while you are packing these items, pack a few nursing pads and a tube of nipple cream.
11. Hand SANITIZER
While washing your hands with soap and water is the best option, a hand sanitizer can be the next best option to clean your hands before you feed or change the baby and afterwards.
