Let's look at what you need to pack in your hospital bag as you get ready for baby's birth. We are sharing the 12 things to pack in the hospital bag so you are well prepared when you head to the hospital for delivery!
As you approach your due date there's plenty to take care of, that will need your attention. ( Here's the ultimate nesting checklist ) However, packing your hospital bag is perhaps, one of the most important things to check off your list.
The thing is, you want to be comfortable when you are at the hospital, during labor and after your baby is born.
While there are many things to pack in the hospital bag, we wanted to look at the absolute “must-have” items to pack in the hospital bag. This is the list of bare minimum essentials to pack in the hospital bag for mom and baby.
MUST HAVE THINGS TO PACK IN THE HOSPITAL BAG
1. ROBE & COMFY CLOTHES
There's something utterly comfortable when you slip in to your own clothes. And, when you are in the hospital after delivery, having a robe and comfy clothes to wear, can really be a pick me up. Consider packing lounge pants and nursing tanks in your hospital bag.
Pack toiletries in your hospital bag. You'll appreciate having your favorite products. Pack your toothbrush, toothpaste, lotion, shampoo and a conditioner as well.
If you ask us, this is a must have in your hospital bag packing list. Whether it's a pair of slippers, no-skid socks, or flip flops, it will be useful when pacing the hospital hallways during labor
Labor is hard and whatever it takes to make you feel a little better. A lip balm will help your lips stay hydrated throughout labor.
Don't forget to pack your eye wear whether it's your contacts, glasses or both.
The hospital will provide mesh underwear and extra large pads after delivery. However, you might want to bring along your own underwear. Get these high waist postpartum underwear with full coverage.
7. NURSING PADS
With milk coming in, your breasts will be engorged and leaking. Having nursing pads on hand will protect from leaky breasts.
Don't forget to pack a phone charger in the hospital bag!
9. GOING HOME OUTFIT FOR BABY
Yet another must have item in your hospital bag packing list should be a going home outfit for the baby.
10.SWADDLEs for baby
The hospital will give you these, but if you want something prettier, pack some swaddles in your hospital bag.
What else do you need to pack in the hospital bag? Snacks, of course!
You can't take the baby home without a properly installed car seat. Don’t forget to make sure your car seat is installed and that you know how to use it before you go to the hospital.
In addition to these items, you'll need to pack items for your partner to stay overnight as well.
