We are stepping into the new year by looking at 2022 nursery ideas and trends that will dominate this year!
It has been an year of adjustments and trying to adapt to this new normal. This year we've leaned into function and comfort and that was reflected in our 2021 nursery designs. Now, we are looking forward to what 2022 brings with optimism, gratefulness and a bit nostalgia, as we reminisce of the pre pandemic era.
So as we welcome 2022, we expect our interiors to reflect our feelings of hope and positivity. At the same time we also expect interiors including spaces we hold most dear-our bedrooms, nurseries and family rooms, to reflect our personal tastes and needs.
2022 nursery ideas and trends will be more daring, more personalized and certainly heavy on aesthetics. In 2022 we expect to see parents enjoying the process of decorating the nursery more so than ever before, while curating a nursery with authenticity that tells a special story.
Below, we're sharing our predictions for 2022 nursery ideas and trends we expect to see dominate the year. Happy nursery decorating!
TOP NURSERY DESIGN TRENDS YOU'LL SEE IN 2022
1.CANE RESURGENCE
We've seen lots of cane nursery furniture in 2021, but we are expecting it to have even a bigger moment in 2022. Now, just because it's a seventies style staple, don't expect it to look the same though. Whether it's cane nursery furnishings or small nursery accessories, they'll have a modern edgier look-that will fit right in to most nursery design styles with it’s rich texture and neutral color.
2.STAR THEME
Just because it's a new year doesn't mean we are not loving a starry display of stars in our nursery designs. In 2022, just like in the past years, we expect to see lots and lots of star themed nursery designs. Whether it's wallpaper, rugs or crib bedding, parents will look to create a celestial statement in their little one’s nursery.
3.RICH HUES
One of the biggest nursery design trends we expect to see is the pops of rich hues in nursery designs, reflecting our optimism. Parents are going to turn to color to liven up the baby's room. We expect to see lots of nursery designs with jewel or earthy tones that lend a sense of rejuvenation to the space.
4. curved styles
Curved furniture has been gaining popularity lately and we expect to see this trend continue in 2022 nursery designs. From cribs to nursery dressers and even arches- the curvy look is here to stay.
5. WOODLAND
One of our most requested nursery design themes of all times is a woodland theme nursery and we don't expect that to change in 2022 either. There’s something undeniably enchanting about a nursery with woodland elements and accents that's equal parts whimsical and elegant.
6.NATURAL MATERIALS
2022 will see nursery designs incorporating more organic and natural materials such as wood, ceramics and stone. Since the start of the pandemic, we've turned to nature to seek comfort and reinvigorate ourselves- and this continues to reflect in our interiors.
7.Japandi Style
We've seen this trend blow up our Instagram feeds and we don't expect it to stop anytime soon. 2022 nursery ideas will see well curated bright spaces with muted color schemes and clean lines. This Japandi nursery design style is the combination of Scandinavian functionality and Japanese rustic minimalism.
8.BLACK ACCENTS
This year you'll see lots of nursery designs with a pop of black. These sprinklings of black accents and furniture pieces will create impact in the design and ground the space.
9.MORE VINTAGE
As we feel nostalgic about the pre pandemic era and our lifestyle- we see us gravitating towards items that have meaning, a story perhaps, and character. From vintage rugs to nursery prints- expect to see more vintage in our nursery designs in 2022.
10. STATEMENT LIGHTING
We couldn't be more happier-finally nursery lighting is getting the attention it deserves. Gone are the days of nursery lighting being an afterthought. This year, we'll see nursery lighting reframed as a decorative object that elevates the design by heaps and bounds.
11.ARTISAN FINDS
It seems like hunkering down at home for the last couple of years and spending countless hours perusing Etsy, has given us an appreciation for artisan décor. We expect to see lots of intentional nursery designs featuring artisanal nursery décor and accessories with a story to tell.
12.SHADES OF GREEN
One of the biggest nursery design ideas and trends for 2022, is designs with shades of green. From gray greens to emerald greens, we are leaning in and bringing the outside. And, don't just expect to see it on the walls but also on nursery décor and nursery furniture.
13. COTTAgECORE LOOK
We've seen this trend take off in 2021 and we expect to see a lot more of the Cottagecore look in the new year. We'll see nursery designs with a nod to the traditional English countryside style- romantic and nostalgic. Nurseries with the Cottagecore look will feature floral wallpaper prints and patterns, organic textures and woods, giving the space a pastoral feel.
14.TEXTURED FABRICS
Textured fabrics such as velvet, Sherpa and boucle will be everywhere, even in baby rooms in 2022. Whether it's a nursery chair or ottoman, these textured fabrics will give the nursery a cozy yet luxurious vibe.
15. MORE HOUSEPLANTS
What’s not to love about a plant or two in the nursery? Thankfully, 2022 will see lots of houseplants- adding color, energy and vitality to nurseries everywhere.
