When I was pregnant with our first baby we really wanted to find out the baby's gender. However, every time we went in for an ultrasound, the baby kept hiding and they just could not tell us if the baby was a girl or boy. So I ended up designing a gender neutral nursery. And, it worked out pretty well for us. If you too are interested in decorating a gender neutral nursery because you want to keep away from the pinks and blues, you don't know the baby's gender or just because you prefer to have a more sophisticated palette, then this post is for you. Today, I am going to share with you how to decorate a gender neutral nursery that is beautiful, sophisticated and timeless.
1.START WITH A NEUTRAL COLOR PALETTE
Pick a neutral color palette as the foundation for your design. Whites, grays and beiges will give you a beautiful canvas to accessorize and add personal touches.
2.GO WITH A THEME THAT IS GENDER NEUTRAL
If you really want to have a theme for the baby's nursery, choose one that is gender neutral with animals, stars, woodland etc.
3. PICK FURNIture WITH SIMPLE LINES
To decorate a gender neutral nursery, stick with furniture that has straight lines and smooth surfaces.
4.emphasis a single design element
Introduce a statement piece into the gender neutral design such as beautiful artwork, wall mural, wall paper, etc. The statement making piece will add drama and interest to the gender neutral nursery.
5.ACCESSORIZE WITH DEEP HUES
Pick an accent color or two and sprinkle the room with a few bold accessories. Here, the beautiful green stool adds a pop of color to the space and gives the nursery some personality.
Make the gender neutral nursery visually appealing by adding patterns to the design. Throw pillows, rugs, blankets are a great way to add and layer patterns.
7.ADD TEXTURE TO THE DESIGN
Add layers of texture to the nursery to create a space that is interesting. The ottoman, rug, and textiles add visual weight to this gender neutral nursery lending a sense of harmony to the design.
Use baskets and bins to store and organize baby's toys and books. The gender neutral nursery will shine once the space is decluttered and everything has a place.
9.organize and curate the shelves
Use shelves and bookcases to display books, photos, plants, etc. When styling the shelves be sure to have a color palette in mind so your shelves will look pulled together and stylish.
